Hi guys, As in the title, I have a 2010 1.6 TDCI Focus Zetec. I am aware of the turbo failure issues on TDCI engines (not 100% sure if the issue is present in the ‘facelift’ MK 2.5 model - conflicting information online) and I’ve read that regular oil changes can help.

I have the same issue with mine. I'm running a Focus 1.8tdci climate (07 plate, 62k) and get the whooshing noise at 1800rpm when I accelerate quickly, the noise stops once I settle out at speed and I have no loss in power (but I think my fuel consumptions down a little).
This is basically a conventional Hydraulic power steering system where the pump is powered by an electric motor instead of the engine. All Focus MK3/MK3.5 versions (except the 1.6 TI-VCT) have EPAS (Electric Power Assisted Steering). This system is fully electric and has an electric motor directly mounted onto the steering rack.
